The Power of the “A” Word
A very old lady looked in the mirror one morning. She had three remaining hairs on her head, and being a positive soul, she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she braided her three hairs, and she had a great day.
Some days later, looking in the mirror one morning, preparing for her day, she saw that she had only two hairs remaining. “Hmm, two hairs…I fancy a centre parting today.” She duly parted her two hairs, and as ever, she had a great day.
A week or so later, she saw that she had just one hair left on her head. “One hair huh…,” she mused, “I know, a pony-tail will be perfect.” And again she had a great day.
The next morning, she looked in the mirror. She was completely bald.
“Finally bald huh,” she said to herself, “How wonderful! I won’t have to waste time doing my hair any more..”
Attitude: The real “A” Word! When You Embrace The “A” Word and have a positive Attitude, you will:
Generate and regenerate energy. A lot of people ask me, “Chad, where do you get your energy?” My answer is partly, “my metabolism.” Then my answer is partly, “my attitude.” When you choose to look at situations with a good attitude (yes, it is a choice), you seem to generate internal energy. This internal energy quickly seeps out in the form of contagious, external energy. When you don’t make this decision, you will deplete energy both internally and externally. I am far, far from an expert, but tend to think the reason is this: negativity sucks the life out of you as does worry. I choose the opposite. I choose an upbeat, uplifting, positive attitude.
Learn perseverence through the low times. When you experience difficult times, you are developing perseverance. During these times, you wil need to decide to either waddle in the mud and sulk or… make mud pies and cheer! Your attitude plays a big role in whether or not you will be defined by your difficulties or… learn from and overcome!
Learn to not be affected by external situations. You will be instead be internally motivated. You will be like an armored tank. When you finally run through the mine field (eventually it will happen), you will not be swayed off course.
Since your internal character defines you (not external situations), you will march through the fire unscathed by the flames. If you are touched, perhaps you will slightly refined by the heat.
Develop Attitude With Influence. It is one thing to just have a good attitude; this will help YOU out. It is a whole other thing to have an attitude that influences OTHERS. A positive attitude helps you develop trust with others and develop influence. It is the grease that makes your wheels fly, the melody that gives way to harmony. It is essential!
The “A” Word- Attitude! Other reasons the “A” Word is Powerful (This is your part in the comments below), Why is attitude so important?

[...] In response- Seriously, don’t be a Negative Nancy! The power of positive affirmation can’t be overlooked! Rewarding desired behaviors causes others to want to reproduce that same behavior. Focusing strictly on the negatives will do nothing for encouraging desired outcomes for those in your circle of influence. Don’t forget The Power of the A-Word. [...]

When you wrote about the mine fields I couldn’t help but think of Proverbs 4:27.
Thanks again Chad.
