I think sports have their own religious quality in this country. The emotions, actions, community spirit, and passion are often more intense than anything I have felt in church for years. I don’t think that is right and for me, I had to stop watching most sporting events because it became an act of worship and idolatry for me.
That being said, the shirt is just silly. Does it use some form of religious imagery yes but I am not sure that is enough to qualify as heresy or blasphemy.

I am from Germany and we can be very happy with Dirk Nowotzki. A German is known as a superstar inside the leading basketball league around the world. Everyone is delighted how the Us americans celebrate “all of our” Dirk. This might be less recognized in the states.
